I personally love the ambiguity of chartreuse...is it green? Yellow?
Over here at Chic Antique we like to throw around the word "grellow"... either way, it's a great color that's been popping up all over the place.
While Crystal was at the studio painting and lacquering away, I worked on this adorable little wall table over at the store.
What are y'alls favorite color combinations for this spring/summer? Maybe you'll inspire Chic Antique's next upcycled masterpiece:)

BIG CONGRATS TO OUR VERY OWN ABBIE WHO WILL BE GRADUATING FROM INTERIOR DESIGN SCHOOL TOMORROW!

Art Studio Search Begins...

With our 1 year anniversary of the store coming up we are happy to say we need more space! Our services have expanded and with that orders have been pouring in for custom work but keeping the store stocked as well has us wondering where do we go next? As I ponder where my next art studio will be I also can't help but wonder what the new interior design concept will be too. Here are our current spaces and some cool spaces that may or may not influence Chic Antique's new store aesthetic.

  -Crystal Blackshaw

Here is my art studio we are currently renting...good light, great location but just too darn small.
Here we have the store front but would love to have both studio and store in the same location.

I think any artist would feel the inspiration in this London artist loft space. There's got to be a space like this in historic Chicago, right?
It sure would be fun to have clients come to this address to view our work!

PANTONE WEDDING

I got married last October and for me, planning my wedding was a lot like designing a room, and being a designer, it was A LOT OF FUN!  By thinking about it as a design project and starting with an initial idea, my husband and I were able to create a day that was inspired by the colors of the season and layered with our personality as a couple. Just like doing a room in your home, with a wedding, you can start off with an over all idea, style, or theme and then pick your colors, this will set the scene for everything else to fall into place. If your having trouble deciding the overall theme or style for your wedding, my biggest tip for you brides to be is to start off by thinking about significant or special moments in your relationship as a couple. This can be anything from a vacation, a date, or even a movie that you both love. From that you can take what you both like and create a personal style for your special day. Here are the "in" colors for the seasons of 2011 and some Styleboards from www.dessy.com using Pantone palettes  for inspiration!

                       Enjoy :) Abbie

Chic Night Out

Chic Night Out
I have been waiting for the nice (above 30 degree) weather to return to Chicago ALL winter to get all dolled up to and go somewhere special and thought..what would I ever wear?! Perhaps a Josephine dress from frocoholics paired with some fancy shmancy shoes from nine west. Can't forget the statement fur purse made by Valentino of course! Time to go shopping ladies!

Pantone names its 2011 color of the year..PINK!

Anyone who knows me and my personal color choice would understand why I am super excited about the new for-casted  color of the year, PINK! LOVE LOVE LOVE any and all shades of pink from light dusty rose to vibrant radiant Fuchsia, they all speak to me and I find myself using the color in a lot of my designs and furniture finishes. Check out a few of my favorite room designs and fashion trends using this years color winner..PINK!
One  of my absolute favorite interior designers, Jonathan Adler puts whimsy and glamor into all of his spaces. Here his pink entryway is a subtle backdrop to showcase his eclectic furnishings.

I love Couture simply because it is the imagination brought to life via fashion. Jemma Sykes created this lovely masterpiece..not sure where or if you would ever wear it anywhere but I kinda feel like knitting myself a little something in this color:)
Or how about painting your entire row house in pink!
I saw this room in Elle Decor and was amazed at how much awesomeness could be put into a tiny 600sq ft apartment. This wallpaper made the room and instead of enclosing the space its cheery color and motif opens up the space and creates interest and a quirky sense of humor.
Next up on my Favorite designers list is the one and only Kelly Wearstler. Her over the top designs take color and pallets to a whole new level. Here her interior design office has many different shades of pink and bridged with cream and gold tones.
